Parking in Szczecin Old Town requires payment. There are two paid parking zones in Szczecin: Red Zone (Strefa Czerwona or Podstrefa A) and Yellow Zone (strefa Zolta or Podstrefa B). There used to a separate Parking Zone in the Old Town, but it was cancelled in 2023. Contrary to most cities, Szczecin Parking Zones are not related to the distance from the Old Town, and I find it challenging to find any logic in their location. Therefore, you always need to make sure in which zone you parked your car.
Parking Rules in Szczecin
You only need to pay on working days, Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm, except on 2 May, 24 and 31 December.
A parking fee can be paid:
At the parking meter:
At the parking meter, you may pay with coins with denominations from 10 gr to 5 PLN (the parking meter does not give change) or by card. You have to enter your plate’s number, but you don’t need to place the ticket behind the screen (remember to take it, though). Once a day, you may choose a free 15-minute ticket.
With a mobile device
There are several Apps that you may use to pay: SkyCash, moBiLET, AnyPark, mPAY and Flowbird. It’s worth downloading any of them (I use SkyCash and Mobilet), as they work in most cities in Poland. With the Apps, it is possible to set the maximal time or simply use the Start/Stop option.
Failing to pay the parking fee results in the fine of 100 PLN (if paid within 7 days) or 200 PLN.
